I take choosing a coach incredibly seriously.. and I get viciously addicted to one if I find someone who truly listens to what I want and can get me there – and this serves me in more than just the fitness realm, I feel the same with regards to business coaching too.
If I have any doubts about their ability to get me where I want to go? No matter how hard I try, I just won’t succeed at their program. It’s a feeling found deep in my gut and it ain’t gonna shift.
We all know we need help with certain aspects of our lives – how to train, how to grow a business, how to parent.
Because in reality, all the content we would need to learn about all this stuff is actually already out there. Isn’t it? But who has the freaking time to decipher it all? I run a business and I do as much for it as I can by myself – but I’m not GOING to become an expert at certain things. I.e. I WILL NEVER LEARN ONE SINGLE CODE FOR WEBSITES. Ever. It’s not my bag. And it’s certainly not why I got into coaching online. Neither is advertising, sales, software, or literally anything involving tech anything.
But the reality is, if I don’t do all of those things, I’ll never reach my goal. Which is to help kickass women get the heck out of their own damn way and finally live as the strong, fit, empowered ass-kickers that they are.
I have always been the type of person who moves a million miles per hour and has 18 things to accomplish before noon that each take about a week to finish. That’s when I feel best, the most accomplished, and like I’m getting the most out of this awesome world and the people and experiences in it.
I love jumping in head first and asking questions later. Buuuut. Then I adulted. (That’s a word I promise)
Ugh. I put it off for a really long time, but then the biological clock kept me up at night and the desire to HAVE stuff crept in – and here we are. Two kids, a husband, and a business later.
So now my ‘jumping in’ is a little different. It’s a calculated jump. It’s taken me almost seven months to choose my new business coach (plus an insane amount of mistakes and a crap-load of unopened emails from every coach under the sun trying to vie for my attention). Because if they got my attention and I signed up for their stuff in the first place – they are likely pretty damn good at what they do.
So what set my new coach apart? I honestly went through a love/hate (and I think still do) relationship with her. Love – because she empowers me. Hate – because she empowers me.. AND THAT IS SCARY.
We get comfortable, don’t we? And we think – wooooooo I can take a breath. All the energy we’ve poured into learning and developing is now on coast mode and it’s awesome. Then someone reminds you – “Psssssst. You’re not there yet. Remember what you said you wanted? If you want it – STEP UP. You’re not done.”
When we start to coast in one aspect of life, it snowballs into everything doesn’t it?
Like coasting at work, turns into coasting your relationships with friends, into an overly boring routine at home, into a laissez-faire outlook about getting into shape, into eating whatever (because, whatever!), into a closet of clothes that don’t fit and a few years of life gone by because we got comfortable.
The worst part? There’s nothing comfortable about any of that. It all feels kind of icky and somehow wrong. And then “comfortable” begins to translate to women who ARE KICKASS desperately needing help to remember that.
So for me – this was what nailed it: she said, (not word-for-word but this was the gist of it)
“If this makes you uncomfortable? I want you to find 20 other things that make you uncomfortable and do them now. I’m not kidding. If you can’t do that, find 40.”
Sign me up.
We are superwomen, we find solutions, not excuses. Every other thing in this world can seem to be against us – but damned if we will sink down and justify it.
Get messy ladies, find the coach that speaks to you, that doesn’t let you settle.. that would NEVER let you get comfortable. We aren’t here to coddle, we are here to push you because there’s no freaking way you should be feeling desperate! And we are going to run into resistance from you because we are asking you to do better. When I run into resistance from a tribe member? I know it’s working, because I’ve found the THING that is holding her back from living her most exceptional life.
And what the hell is the point if I don’t want that for her?
I’m giving you a sneak peak into my programs. Some workouts and videos, some of why and how we do this, and how I organize the process. This is the framework of the 28 Day Transformation and my TrainingLife Club Lifestyle Mentorship program.
But the heart of it? That’s me. Demanding that you live your life the way you envision it, instead of the not-so-comfy “comfortable” way you have been.
Strong bodies. Strong minds. Bulletproof success.
End goal? Happiness. THAT is the right kind of comfort.
You GOT this,
